Similar to a Media magazine, a film poster has to win over an audience and make them want to go and see the film that they are advertising. So this means that they must reflect the convention of the film by text colours and images.
In the film poster here, most conventions are on display. The mise-en-scene represents the film by having the prop of a shotgun in view. Again, it has a solitary figure on the front which tells us that he us the main character. I will have a prop in view on my film poster to show the conventions of a film as well as just having Hammer on the front as he is the main character. There is also a tag line present in the film poster to help audience gather what sort of character the model is. I will have a tag line which represents Hammer's instability and how dangerous he is.
Another common feature of film posters is a list of the cast which are most featured in the film. I will do this to my film poster, but due to obvious reasons I can only put three or four names on it. There is always a release date on film posters which tells you when the film is going to be out in the cinemas. I won't specify a date on my film poster as I would like to keep it ambiguous as this will make the audience more impatient and build up the suspense.
